FALL 2017

FRONT ENTRANCE MONUMENT AN EMBARRASSMENT

MAIN ENTRANCE LANDSCAPING DEAD FROM NEGLECT

ROHA Trustees paid $7,192 to Heritage Landscape just last year to replace the previous and healthy landscaping that they had torn out at the main entrance of our subdivision. Unfortunately, most of the new shrubs have already died of neglect and been removed.

To make matters worse, ROHA Trustees forbid a resident from voluntarily watering and maintaining the substantial investment. Rick Lord (ROHA President) hired an attorney to issue a Cease and Desist letter to Jack Helfrich (who had been watering and maintaining the area, and others, successfully for years) threatening him with “a temporary restraining order, preliminary and/or permanent injunction, (and) to assert all rights and remedies under law” if Jack attempted to look after the dying shrubs at the entrance monument or elsewhere on the Remington Oaks common grounds (see letter). Mr. Lord even persuaded the Recreational Board of Directors to enact a supposed “Water Theft Policy,” forbidding Jack from using water from the Clubhouse “for watering plants, filling up buckets to water trees on common areas,” etc. If found doing so, the police will be called to “report theft of their water” (see letter).

It is crystal clear that Mr. Lord has a personal vendetta against Jack and is not acting in the best interest of the residents of Remington Oaks.

If you would like to voice your opinion regarding this wasteful spend or other subdivision matters, please attend the next open ROHA Meeting at the Clubhouse. Visit RemingtonOaks.org for details.

Fall 2017

Jack Helfrich and other generous residents continue to volunteer their time and resources to beautify our neighborhood. Even at the risk of continued harassment by the ROHA or OLRA Boards. If you'd like to help them with their efforts, contact Jack.

RESIDENTS CONTINUE TO DO THEIR PART TO MAKE OUR NEIGHBORHOOD LOOK THE BEST IT CAN

* Note that these pictures were taken throughout the Remington Oaks subdivision at the same time the ones of the subdivision entry monument ones were taken and are of residents-only-efforts, with no support from either of the Boards.

Remington Oaks detention basin

While some areas of the neighborhood have never looked better, others are in desperate need of some attention.

If you haven't visited the detention basin lately, to walk the path or just take a look, you might want to do so. You may be surprised at its condition.

While it is often mentioned during ROHA Meetings, not much seems to actually get done. And now that there is a tentative plan in place to dredge the sludge- and trash-filled reservoir in 2025 (yes, in NINE years) anything more than minimal maintenance will get pushed beyond that date, according to the ROHA Common Ground Trustee.

SUMMER 2016

VIBRANT SUMMER COLORS

"The guy in the blue truck" had another very busy Summer this year. And his efforts helped our neighborhood "look the best it has in many years," as more than one resident put it. His non-stop planting, watering, fertilizing and weeding did not go un-noticed or un-appreciated. And, in spite of the Homeowners Association Trustees' efforts to stop him, Jack ignored the threats and kept on beautifying and maintaining the huge investment in trees and plant life that have been donated by a variety of generous neighbors through the years.

And, most people don't know that the work he does is volunteer. Let him know how much you appreciate his efforts if you see him out and about.

Consider dropping the ROHA Trustees a note if you appreciate his ongoing efforts, at ROHAboardMO@gmail.com

BEAUTIFUL

FALL COLOR

As Summer came to a close and cool fall weather took over, you may have noticed the numerous vibrant bronze chrysanthemums and other fall colors that popped up around our neighborhood.

Guess who's responsible?

COMMON GROUND
CHALLENGES

Our neighborhood is approaching its 30 year mark, and you may have noticed that parts of it are beginning look a bit worse for the wear. We have many acres of common ground here and much of it is rarely visited by our Common Ground Trustee. Do him a favor and let him know if you see a dead tree, an extreme erosion problem, or a dangerous area. He will do his best to get it taken care of promptly.

MAIN ENTRY MONUMENT CHALLENGES

If you enter or exit by way of the main entrance, you likely noticed that the established landscaping was torn out and brought to a landfill earlier this year, and replaced with new plantings. Quite a few of the new shrubs died due to a lack of attention, soon after they were planted, making for a bit of an eyesore for most of the Summer and Fall.

You will be glad to see that some of the dead shrubs have recently been replaced. as well as the bulb in one of the two lanterns that has been out since early Summer. We're all looking forward to see the Holiday decorations soon...
